"I KNOW WHAT YOU LEARN ABOUT IN 5TH GRADE"

Today while I was doing Savannah's hair she's was telling me the things she learned about Jonny Appleseed in school yesterday and asked me if I'd learned about him in 1st grade like her. Then suddenly our conversation took a huge turn, she's says "well I know what you learn about in 5th grade." I say, "what do you learn about in 5th grade?" "Well I know you learn about what mom's and dad's do when they go to bed." So I'm starting to think, hmm, who gave my 1st grader the 'sex' talk. SO I say "Who told you that?" "Well, Katlyn and Jennifer told me that's what you learn in 5th grade." Those friends are in 3rd grade. Savannah's continues to tell me, "then Katlyn asked me if I knew what mom's and dad's do when they go to bed and I said of coarse I know what they do." I was totaling dying to hear what she would say so I said, "What did you tell them?" "I told them that mom's and dad's watch t.v., read books, and eat ice cream." "What did your friends say to that?" "They just said, wow, I guess you do know." It was so hard to hold in my laughter. So Savannah and her friends must think that they are going to learn about the art of eating ice cream and watching tv. Oh, the fun things to look forward to in 5th grade.

A DAY WITH NAT AND KAREN

DURING THE PROCESS (WE FORGOT TO GET A BEFORE SHOT)

AFTER. WHAT A HOTTIE!

Today was such a fun day. 2 of my favorite people came down for hair day, Nat and Karen. I just adore these amazing women. Nat decided she wanted to go dark for the fall season and I then informed her that we were going to cut it short and sassy. She was good to go. It didn't even take me twisting her arm to do it. She looked so dang cute with her new dew (dark and sassy). Her hubby Jer was at the BYU game all day..he'll sure come home to a surprise. After we colored and cut both of their hair we headed to the parade. My kids and Brooklyn (Nat's girl) went in the Ladder truck with Dan. And we took Nat's 2 other kids to watch the parade. On the way to find our spot we saw Dick Norse. Yes, THE Dick Norse, you know the old newscaster from channel 5, well we got a picture with him. Yes, a picture, I love that guy. I used to watch him every night at 10. We sat on a grassy spot just off of the side walk and I swear no one was throwing candy at us. Seriously they have some weak arms. Well, when it comes down to it no one is supposed to throw candy anymore in the parade but most of them were anyway. We were only getting a few pieces of candy so I decided to take things in to my own hands, I picked up Bubba and stood right on the edge of the sidewalk. We started getting the goods then, we even got a Frisbee. Oh yeah, Good Times. Thanks Nat and Karen for spending the day with me.

Cowboys &Cowgirls hop on those wranglers it's rodeo time.

We had a way fun Friday night with one of our favorite friends, Shawnee. We got to have Shawnee over for a late night tonight and party hearty! The kids had such a blast today. We had pizza, watched Camp Rock, it doesn't get much better than that. Thanks Shawnee for hangin with us.

Oh yeah, it's RODEO time again. It's the time of year the kids break out their old cowboy hats and boots and we rodeo it. Kids night was last night so we joined the fun. I think they are so cute in their cowboy gear..I know it's not the same without wranglers but this is as cowboy as I get.

The 222nd presented our flag last night, it sent chills up my spine. I love when you can feel the spirit of patriotism. It makes me proud to be an American.

Babbleing

Update, I think I'm finally over the diet coke headaches. Until today I've had a constant headache. I'm pretty sure I've made it over the hump. Day 1 and day 2 were the hardest, I swear my car would automatically swerve every time I passed a gas station but I remained strong. I've doubted my goal of quitting many, many times but I think I'm going to make it. Dan thinks I've lost it... he never thought I would actually stick with it but I'm proving everyone wrong. Ha, ha, ha, there's a joy just in that.
Last night we went out with Neal and Amy. It was tons of fun. Well we had a new babysitter come over she was such a doll. Josh was on one though, he was being such a tease. He had been at scout day camp all day, I think they gave him hyper pills or something. Anyway, when we left Josh was still in teasing mode. During dinner I looked down at my phone and noticed I'd missed 5 calls from home. I was thinking maybe the babysitter had had enough teasing but no, she was fine, it was Josh calling..he said "Mom, I got stung by a bee." Note: right before we left Dan told Josh to NOT play around with the bees. We've had an abundance of bees now that we have flowers in the backyard. So I said "We're you playing with the bees???" Josh says, "No, I wasn't playing with them, I was trying to kill them." HMMMM, I don't understand why you got stung then. hee hee. Luckily we now know that he's not allergic to them.

DIET COKE

Any one that knows me well, even those who don't know me well, know that I have a 'small' addiction to diet coke (well o.k., a very large addiction). I've always defended diet coke in 'health' talks, when people (my mom) tells me how bad it is for me and that I drink too much of it etc.. I still don't think that 'great' drink is bad for you but I am starting to think that I'm drinking way too much of it. So I've decided to cut back, I'm not taking it completely out of my life but It's time to cut back. Here's the scoop, those of you who don't have an addiction like this are going to think I'm crazy, those of you who share this addiction know where I'm coming from. I've been getting my 64 oz. mug refilled in the morning and its usually gone by noon, and then by afternoon I'm craving another one. It hasn't necessarily been hurting the pocket book cuz those sweet girls at the gas station see me enough that they usually give me atleast half of my drinks for free. My love for diet coke is starting to rub off on my kids. I knew it was bad when my mom offered to take Savannah to get an ice cream but she said that all she really wanted was a DIET COKE. It's time to tame the beast. Today is day one of not going to the gas station and getting my refill (it's starting to fill like a Sunday), I poured myself 1 can of diet coke this morning. The headache isn't too bad, yet. I've been drinking crystal light like it's going out of style. I really don't know why I'm posting about my silly 'little' addiction, I guess you're like my DCA (diet coke anonymous). Love to hear your advice and don't worry I'll be posting updates on my progress. Part of me wants to just give up and run to the gas station now but I'm going to be stronger than that (I have to last at least 1 day, right?)

Busy Week

GRANDMA GLADYS
Yesterday Teresa and I drove to Milford for my cousin's wedding dinner. We went a little early so that we could visit with Grandma Gladys. She's such an amazing woman. Never in my life have I met such a woman of faith. If you talk about enduring to the end she is the first person that comes to my mind. You would never hear a word of complaint come from her mouth of the different trials shes had to face. I am so grateful for her in my life and the friendship we have.

Spence was so excited to get his first 'big boy bike'. Grandpa Bailey took it to work and put it together for him. Spencer called Papa on his way home from work and asked him if he had his bike, I wish I would've taken a pic of Spencer's face when Papa said yes. It was so cute. His eyes went as wide as possible and he started saying to us, "Yampa has it, Yampa has it."

JEANA
Only a few more days to go. The doc is starting Jeana on Tuesday. I know, she doesn't look that far along. I think she looks amazing. She is this perfectly prego beauty. I think they're going to name the baby Bailey Jean, cute huh. Jeana is still undecided but Rich has his mind made up. Good luck to Jeana with number 5. I know she'll do great.

BECKY HOME-EC-EE
Peach days! Thursday was the big day in the kitchen with my mom and Teresa. We canned 39 bottles of peaches, 14 cans of spice peach jam, 14 cans of pineapple peach jam and 11 cans of raspberry peach jam and made cinnamon rolls!! I am now claiming to be Becky Home-ec-ee. I was so glad that we made the mess at my Moms house, and boy was it a mess. Between the peaches, the rolls and the kids running around wild ALL day we had a big mess to clean up. But it was all worth it in the end. We had a blast spending the day together. Jeana came by and thought we had gone crazy but we were lovin' being Betty Crocker for the day. So if you want to stop by for a PBJ or some toast with jam or just a few canned peaches, come on over. Life's a peach.

OUR NEW ADDITION TO OUR FAMILY
She has dark hair, brown eyes, she never cries or whines, she plays well with others, she loves the kids to give her hugs and kisses, she's only ran away a few times, she never has any accidents, she sleeps a lot, she'll eat anything (if we let her), she leaves yellow spots on our grass but we love her anyway and she loves to race the kids and to play fetch.
MOCHA. Our new family member. We adopted her from Rob and Lexi when they moved to Phoenix. Our kids have absolutely loved having her around and I have to admit that I've kind of enjoyed her too. Thanks Rob and Lexi. It's kind of funny to watch the kids all give her different commands at the same time, they wake up in the morning and she's the first thing they're excited to see. Josh is even willing to be the pooper scooper.

Savannah with her sassy look. aaarrrrrgggghhhh.

SAVANNAH, MY BUDDING BEAUTICIAN
The last couple of weeks Savannah has been in hair dresser mode. She's always looking for her next victim. Spencer and Dan are usually the most willing 'clients'. Yes, she does charge too (pretend money of coarse). When she finishes she always tells them, "O.k. that will be $10." The funniest thing she did was yesterday. She had just finished Dan's hair and then proceeded to do her own hair, notice all the hair clips, then she came up to me and said, "Isn't it CRAZY, I just started doing hair and I'm so good at it. Don't you think it's crazy that I'm so good at it?" She seriously cracks me up most of the time. Ya gotta love it!
